Spanish painter who lived between 1746 and 1828. Goya painted Manuel Osorio Manrique de Zuñiga in 1787. Manuel had a short life (1784-1792). Goya included in his painting a cage full of birds and three cats, perhaps reminding the viewer of the fine line between life and death. Manuel died at age 8. This painting is from the Jules Bache Collection at the New York City Metropolitan Museum.
